Intestinal cleaning? - no worries

Before a fasting cure, one should cleanse the large intestine. This cleanses the body of toxins and waste products. The intestines kick-in, the immune system is strengthened and the natural intestinal flora can re-establish itself on the intestinal wall. Are you uncomfortable with the thought of a colon cleanse? Then we are particularly pleased to offer you colon hydrotherapy at our hotel in Oberstaufen, a particularly gentle procedure for cleansing the intestines - with warm and cold water.

Schroth diet

The nutrition during the cure is based on a low-irritant, calorie-reduced, predominantly alkaline diet, avoiding animal protein and fat, and almost salt-free. Less than 850 calories are supplied to the body daily, making the Schroth cure a hypocaloric diet that must be supervised by a spa doctor.

Despite the exclusion of various ingredients, Helmut Beng, the chef at Rosenalp, knows how to create delicious dishes within the framework of the Schroth's diet: the plate is filled with a lot of seasonal vegetables and fruits, and fresh garden herbs provide refined flavor. The initial feeling of hunger fades away after a short time, and soon the first pounds start to drop.

What does the Schroth's diet achieve?

The low-irritant, alkaline diet relieves the metabolism.
The body can concentrate its energy on detoxification and cleansing.
Blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar are lowered.
In the long term, the risk of a heart attack or stroke can be reduced.

Please note that spa doctor supervision is mandatory due to the hypocaloric nature of the diet.

Schroth sweat packs

Your day as a Schroth guest begins early: You are awakened at 4 a.m. by specially trained spa attendants. While enjoying the first cup of herbal tea in your room, initiating the detoxification process in your body, the attendants prepare your bed for the Schroth's Sweating Pack: Moist-cold cloths in which you are tightly wrapped for about two hours, resting with a hot water bottle and pack beds. By the way, even if the initial experience of being wrapped in cold, damp cloths early in the morning seems uncomfortable, you will soon come to appreciate it as a conscious detoxification ritual.

What are the effects of Schroth's Sweating Packs?

The body responds with a rise in temperature and sweating – a kind of artificially induced fever.
The metabolism is stimulated, toxins and deposits are flushed out.
The immune system is strengthened.
Internal organs are calmed, bacteria growth is inhibited.
Pain-relieving, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory effects.
The skin improves, and connective tissue is strengthened.

Drinking and drying days

The alternation between drinking and dry days acts as a natural tissue drainage, supporting the removal of toxins from the body: Stressful substances are flushed into the slightly viscous blood on dry days. Through increased fluid intake on drinking days, these toxins are then transported and eliminated.

The amount of fluid you are allowed to consume is individually determined by the spa doctor. Permitted beverages include water, herbal tea, fruit juices, and even wine in controlled amounts.

The fourth pillar of the Schroth Cure – Rest and Exercise – should be tailored to the drinking and dry days in your personal treatment plan: Utilize dry days to give your body time for regeneration, rest, and relaxation. You are allowed to be active on drinking days: Participate in courses from the Active & Fit program at Rosenalp or engage in sports activities in the Allgäu nature to additionally stimulate metabolism and boost fat burning.
